Ripe Banana Sabji ( Pakke Kele ki Sabji ) is a delicious sweet and sour dish, takes only few minutes to prepare. This recipe comes first in my mind when I am running short of time or my fruit basket is loaded with ripe bananas. As ripe bananas gets rotten quickly, this ripe banana sabji is best option when your fruit basket is full with ripe bananas. Believe me kids will love this sabji.
Here are few tips, cut the ripe bananas just before making ripe banana sabji otherwise they may turn black. Also this sabji is delicious when served fresh.
Ripe banana sabji tastes really great with roti/chappati, plain paratha and even bread.
Step-by-Step Ripe Banana Sabji ( Pakke Kele ki Sabji ) Recipe :
Step 1 : Peel the ripe bananas, chop them into medium thick slices and keep it aside.
Step 2 : Immediately heat the oil in non stick pan or kadai.
Step 3 : Add mustard seeds when oil is medium hot.
Step 4 : When mustard seeds starts to splutter add fine chopped green chilies and curry leaves.
Step 5 : Saute for 30 seconds. Add turmeric powder.
Step 6 : Immediately add chopped bananas. Mix well.
Step 7 : Add red chili powder and salt. Mix well.
Step 8 : Cook for 2 minutes and your ripe banana sabji is ready.
Step 9 : Turn off the flame. Add lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves.
Step 10 : Serve warm ripe banana sabji with roti or parathas.
Note : You can also cook this ripe banana sabji during fast. For that replace mustard seeds with cumin seeds.
If you do not have turmeric during fast then just remove it from ingredients.
- 3 – 4 ripe bananas ( pakke kele )
- 1 – 2 green chili ( fine chopped )
- 5 – 6 curry leaves
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- Pinch of turmeric powder ( optional )
- ½ tsp red chili powder or according to taste
- Salt according to taste ( approx. ½ tsp )
- 2 tsp oil
- Lemon juice according to taste
- Coriander leaves ( fine chopped)
